as to the desirabiUty of making the Journal
available to the general reader, they gladly
accepted a proposal made by him to undertake
its publication.
The Council have been fortunate in secur-
ing also the co-operation of Professor C. H.
Herford, F.B.A., who very kindly consented
to write an Introduction and add a few
explanatory notes ; and they desire to record
their indebtedness to him for this valued
assistance.
