General Vallancey, Avhose ingenuity, and
learning, have been of great use to me, though

with a liberality of spirit, inseparable from
those Avho are scholars, and gentlemen, has
patronized me, without calculating whether
I was friend, or adversary, to his conjectures,
or to his inferences.
Mr, Astle, to whom I was under literarij
obligations (before I Avas honoured Avith hÍ5
