LEG-ERWOOD is a parish and village, in
Kelso poor combination and in the small
debt court district of Lauder ; the parish
is 3 milea in length by 2£ broad, and is
generally elevated and well cultivated;
the soil is adapted for both crops and
pasture ; the village is 5 miles north from
Earlston station, on the North British
railway. Boonhill, in this parish, was a
signal station during the time of war.
The area comprises 8,789 acres; rateable
value of the parish, £5,906 ; the popula-
tion in 1901 was 431, and in 1891, 475.

mansion house here, Croiawell established
