LARBERT,
And the Village of Stenhousemuir.
LARBERT, or Larbet., is a parish, the village, three miles from
Falkirk and eight from Stirling, being beautifully situated on
the side of a hill, on the northern bank of the Carron. The parish
contains some gentlemen's seats of the first class, among which is
Kinnaird, once the residence and property of Bruce, celebrated for
his travels in Abyssinia, who was born, and died, in this parish j his
remains are interred in the parish churchyard, and a monument of
iron, cast at Carron, is erected over his grave.
Post Office, Larbert, Mrs Margaret Gillespie, Postmistress. — Letters
from all parts arrive (from Falkirk) at 5.50 a.m., 6.35 a.m. and 5.40 p.m. ; and
are despatched at 5,50 a.m., 5.0 p.m. and 8.20 p.m. Money order and telegraph
office.
