42 DIRECTORY.
There is no Express Delivery on vSunday, Good Friday,* or
Christmas Day.
lieplies and Further Service-'^.
On the delivery of an Express Packet the delivering Messenger
may take a reply or perform a further express delivery service
before 7.0 p.m. The Express Fee must be paid by the sender of
the first service or by the sender of the reply or further service.
When a reply or further service is required by the sender, the
words " Wait Reply " or " Further Service" should be written
above the address of the Packet, and the Messenger is allowed
to wait 10 minutes free of charge, but after that time 2d is
charged for every quarter of an hour or part of quarter of an
hotir during which the Messenger is required to wait for the reply.
When a Packet on a return or further service is taken to an
address within half a mile of the Post Office from which the
Messenger started on the original service, half only of the
Express Mileage Rate is charged.
Acceptance by Telegraph 3Iessenfier.
A Telegraph Messenger, on delivering a telegram, may, if
desired, take back to the Post Office where he is employed a
Packet or Express Delivery. If the Office is not an Express
Delivery Office, the Letter or Parcel will be sent by Post to the
first Express Delivery Office Charges to be paid by tlie sender
by means of postage stamps affixed to the Packet.
Letters Posted at Bailwai/ Stations.
Letters to be posted in the Late Fee Letter Boxes attached to
the Mail Trains may be handed in at any Post Office at which
the Express Service is in ojjeration, for immediate conveyance to
the Railway Stations The postage and late fee must be prepaid
in stamps affixed to the letter
Single Letters Conveyed by Railviay.
Railway Letters not exceeding 1 oz in M'eight, for transmission
by ordinary trains, may be handed in at any Post Office at which
the Express Service is established, for immediate conveyance to
the Railway Stations
Posting of Late Letters and Parcels
Letters and Parcels are accepted for conveyance by Express
Messenger to the General Post Office, or* other Post Office in
London, or to the Chief Offices in Provincial ToM^ns, in time for
an otitgoing Mail.
