JUSTICE OF PEACE COURT.
Sittings of the Small Debt Court, every Tuesday

County Buildings, 117 Brunswick Street. Sittings
for summary proceedings and criminal cases in the
Justices' Hall, on Monday and Thursday at eleven
o'clock. Business is transacted in the Clerk's oiSce,
County Buildings, 117 Brunswick Street, Glasgow,
every day from 9 a.m. till 5 p.m., Saturday excepted,
when the office shuts at 2 p.m. George Gray, clerk

SMALL DEBT COURT OF THE JUSTICES.
This Court, on six days' inducise, decides claims of
£5 and under, sits every Tuesday and Friday at 11
o'clock forenoon, in the Small Debt Court, Justices'
Hall, County Buildings, 117 Brunswick Street. Two
Justices are the Judges. Summonses and warrants
are issued for the Lower Ward of Lanarkshire at the
Justice of Peace Clerk's Office, County Buildings,
entering by 117 Brunswick Street. George Gray,
clerk of the peace, 72 Hutcheson Street; John
Morton Threshie, depute-clerk.
SHERIFF SMALL DEBT COURT.
For the recovery of debts not exceeding £12, sits
every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, for Glas-
gow, on Tuesdays for Lanark and Airdrie, and Fri-
days for Hamilton, and a Circuit Court at Wishaw.
The defenders are cited before this court on an inducije
of six days; warrants to arrest on the dependence
are issued ; the decree may be extracted and arrest-
ments used upon it instantly ; and it may be enforced
in all cases by poinding and sale of the debtor's
effects, and when above £8 6s. 8d. by imprisonment,
ten free days after its date, if granted in presence,
and ten days after a charge, if granted in absence.
The decrees may be enforced over the whole county,
and in case of the debtor removing to a different
county, the decree may be enforced against him
there, on being endorsed by the Sheriff-Clerk of that
county. Judges — Sheriff and Sheriff-Substitutes of
the county.
Note. — An Act was passed in 1840 abolishing
imprisonment for debts under £8 6s. 8d., excepting
claims of aliment, &c.; and another Act was passed
in 1870 abolishing arrestment of wages, unless the
same exceed 20s. per week, but excepting claims for
aliment, crown taxes, poor rates, &c., from the
operation of the Act.

Principal Couet. — Held in the Burgh Court
Hall on Friday at 11 a.m. in cases of debts, &c.,
exceeding 40s.
Summer term, May 12 till July 10.
Winter term, from 12th Nov. until 11th March,
and occasionally during the vacations.
Police Courts. — Held every lawful day at 10 a.m.
in the Police Office, Albion Street, Glasgow, and in
the Police OfSces Gorbals, Anderston, Cowcaddens,
and Calton, respectively.
