LIFE DEPARTMENT.
'l^HE Caledonian Insurance Company oifers to the Public the security of an ample sub.
-*■ scribed capital, as a Guarantee Fund, together with all the advantages resulting from
a participation of profits on the Mutual Assurance Plan ■without risk, ■while, for the conveni-
ence of those who prefer a certain future benefit at a low rate of Premium, the Company
grants Policies without participation either for the whole period of life, or for short periods
at corresponding rates of Pi^emium. In both, the rates are fixed as low as is deemed con-
sistent with safety, and it is provided that, at the expiration of the first ten years, and after-
wards of EVERY seventh YEAR, the Profits shall be ascertained by a careful investigation, and
that four-sixths thereof shall be apportioned to each policy of five years' standing, and up-
wards, entitled to participate, and that according to the number of years such Policy has
existed.
One-sixth is set aside as a guarantee fund for the Life Policy holders, and eventually, at
periodical investigations, apportioned among those entitled to participate, the remaining one-
sixth is allotted for the Proprietors of the Company, as a consideration for their having
pledged their subscribed and accumulated capital in addition to the profits of the Life Depart-
ment, as a farther guarantee to Policy Holders.
Payment of Premium may be made Yearly, Half-yearly, or Quarterly.
The Holders of Policies on the life of another are protected in the event of the party
whose life is insured dying by duelling or suicide.
Liberal advances made upon Policies efi'ected with the Company.
A fair price given to parties who wish to surrender their Policies.
No charge made for Entrance- Money. These advantages are not exceeded by the
terms of even the most favoured establishment, either for security or liberality.
FIRE DEPARTMENT.
' The Company insures property of every description on the most reasonable terms. A
duty of 3s. per cent is payable to Government on all property insured against fire, with the
exception of Agricultural Stock, which is now exempt from Duty.
Prospectuses, with Tables of Rates for both Fire and Life Insurance, may be obtained by
applying at the Head Office, No. 13, Bank Street, Edinburgh ; No. 51, Dame Street Dublin;
No. 8, Wellington Street, Southwark, London ; or to any of the Agencies in Scotland,
England, and Ireland.
