Explanation. — In the Left-hand Table are the years of the Century, and a))o\e each is the Dominical Letter
corresponding with that Year. Then, opposite to the Month, at the foot of the Riffht-hand Table, will he found a
corresponding Letter, over which are placed the Days of the Month and Week for that Month (distinguishing the
Sundays by a different type). Each Blank Space in the Left-hand Table shows the Year following to be Leap Year ;
and as every Leap Year has two Dominical Letters, the Letter above the Blank Space must be used for January
■ and Februarj' in every Leap Y^ear ; and for the other months, use the Jyetters belonging to the respective Years.
Bv transposing the Dominical Letters, this Calendar would answer for any Century. For example : — "The
Letters were arranged thus, E D C B A G F for years ISOO to 1899 (the year 1800 beginning with a Wednesday) ;
and for 2000 to 2099 they will be arranged B A G F E D C (the year 20CO beginning with a Saturday)."
