| Description | Sheet 63 of the Ordnance Survey One-inch Popular Edition of Scotland. It was issued in 1927 at a scale of 1 inch to 1 mile (1: 63,360) from a survey done between 1924 and 1926. The first Ordnance Survey of this area was done between 1853 and 1864. In the top left (north west) corner of this sheet is the high land around Creag Uchdag (2887 feet), Creag nan Eun (2790 feet), Ben Chonzie (3048 feet), Auchnafree Hill (2565 feet), Meall Tarsuinn (2117 feet) and Meall Reamhar (2186 feet), with Glen Lednock cutting through the west part, Loch Turret in the centre, and Glen Almond cutting through the north east area. Across the lower right (south and east) part of the sheet, stretch the Ochil Hills, and between the two areas of highland, running from south west to north east, is the lower and more fertile Strtah Earn, the plain of the River Earn. In the top right (north east) part of the sheet, the River Tay passes the town of Perth. On the right, the sheet stretches from Craighall, on the River Tay, in the north, to Kinross, in the south. On the left, the sheet stretches from Creag Uchdag (2887 feet), in the north, to Buchany, in the south. There are two sets of References, the scale statement ‘One Inch to One Statute Mile - 1/63360’, with accompanying scale bar, and two further scale bars of 1 centimetre to 1000 yards and 1 centimetre to 1 kilometre. Contours and fathoms are shown, with accompanying information about measurement. |
