| Description | Sheet 55 of the Ordnance Survey One-inch Popular Edition of Scotland. It was issued in 1927 at a scale of 1 inch to 1 mile (1: 63,360) from a survey done between 1925 and 1926. The first Ordnance Survey of this area was done between 1859 and 1870. On the right side, the sheet stretches from Mullinavadie and Beinn a Chuallaich (2925 feet), at the east end of Loch Rannoch, in the north, to Ruadh Mheall (2237 feet) and Creach Uchdag (2887 feet), on the south side of Loch Tay, in the south. On the left side, the sheet stretches from the Blackwater Reservoir, in the north, to Beinn Udlaidh (1392 Feet), in the south. There are two sets of References, the scale statement ‘One Inch to One Statute Mile - 1/63360’, with accompanying scale bar, and two further scale bars of 1 centimetre to 1000 yards and 1 centimetre to 1 kilometre. The ‘Popular’ edition was particularly intended for the inter-war generation's leisure hours – cycling, touring or walking through the countryside. |
