| Description | Containing signs by which to know the weather. The names of the principal fairs in Scotland, with the month, day and place when and where they are kept. The complete gardner: containing observations on every month in the year, for planting sowing, &tc. The experienced farrier, cow-leech, shepherd and swineherd, containing approved receipts and medicines for the cure of distempers in cattle as horses, kine, sheep and hogs. Directions for the buying, removing and manage.ment of bees. The vermin killer-shewing a ready way to destroy sundry sorts of vermin, viz bugs, nits and lice. Fleas rats or mice, field, do. Do. Moles caterpillars, green bugs, flies and moths. And a catalogueof [sic] things necessary to be known. Dunbar : Printed for and sold by G. | Description | Over 3,000 chapbooks published in Scotland in the 18th and 19th centuries. Subjects include courtship, humour, occupations, fairs, apparitions, war, politics, crime, executions, Jacobites, transvestites, and freemasonry. Chapbooks are small booklets of 8, 12, 16 and 24 pages, often illustrated with crude woodcuts. Produced cheaply and sold by peddlars on the streets, they formed the staple reading material of the common people, along with broadsides. |
