RETIRED PAY OF THE ROYAL NAVY.

RETIRED PAY— continued.
ROYAL MARINE OFFICERS— continued.
Retirement when unfit for .Service.
An officer above the rank of Captain who is found by a Medical Board to be permanently
incapacitated for further service is, if his service entitles him to retired pay on voluntary
retirement, to be at once placed upon the Retired List, receiving retired pay as above
(See " Compulsory Retirement") with the following deductions: —
General Officers and Colonels '
Commandant
Colonel Second Commandant
Nil.

£15 for each year short of i
exceed £150 in the wnole.
£10 for each year short of age specified in first para.
{of Compulsory Retirement, see preceding page) ; but
the rate of retired pay not to be reduced below
that to which the Officer is entitled on voluntary
retirement.
The rate is to be the same as for Major.

master, and Barrack master
QUAKTKKMASTERS. , Royal Marine Gunners will receive 6d. a day in
Retired pay, at the rate of 200Z. a year, is to be addition to Pension on the foregoing scale, provided
awarded on "retirement, subject to the following they have 15 years' service as Warrant Officers, 30
deduction, viz., where an Officer is retired before years' total service, and at least 5 years' service in a
completion of 30 years' total service 10(. to be deducted ship of war at sea as Royal Marine Gunner.
for each complete year of service less than 20 years,
counting service in the ranks or as Warrant Officer
as Half Full-pav service; but the Retired Pay not to
be less than looi., unless retired as physically unfit.
After a year on Half-pay, he is, if found to be phy-
sically unfit, to be granted Retired Pay at the rate of
200Z. a year at the age of 55, with a deduction of 101. a
yearforeaehcomplcteyearwanting to complete such
age; but the Retired Pay not to be less than the
Half-pay to which the Officer is entitled.
PENSIONS.
Warrant Officers.
Pensions are to be awarded as follows :—
After 21 vears' service, with less than s. d.
5 years'' as Warrant Officer .. ..3 a day.
After 20 years' service, 5 years of which
to be as Warrant Officer .. ..3 6 ,,
After 25 years' service, 5 years' of which
to be as Warrant Officer .. ..4 „
After 30 years' servi ce, 5 years' of which
to be as Warrant Officer .. ..4 6 „
If not entitled to Pension under these rules, War-
rant Officers may receive Pension as Non-Commiss-
ionedOfficer, counting service in the rankofWarrant
Officer as Non-Commissioned Officer's time.
Bandmasters with previous pensioned service in
the Navy who are transferred to the Royal Marines
and promoted to be Warrant Officers in the Marines
may upon final discharge be granted Marine Warrant
Officers' pensions under Article 1208 of the King's
Regulations and Admiralty Instructions 1906, and
allowed to count their former Naval time towards
such pension. They will be removed from the roll of
Naval pensioners on promotion to Warrant rank,
and their pensions will be suspended while serving
as Warrant Officers.
A Marine Warrant Officer with previous Army
service as a Warrant Officer may on final retirement
be awarded a total pension of the same amount as
he would have received had he remained in the
Army, any Army pension being withheld while the
Officer is serving as a Marine Warrant Officer.
Retirement when unfit for Service after having been One Year on Half Pay (under Order in
Council of SOth November, 1882.)
