HALF-PAY— continued.
Rank.
Supplementary Lieutenant-Commanders and Lieutenants to be
allowed when unemployed, either through misconduct or at
the Officer's own request, or when full pay shall have ceased
in consequence of sickness : —

Lieutenants (promoted from ranks of Chief or other Gunners,
and Chief or other Boatswains), Carpenter Lieutenants and
Engineer Lieutenants promoted from Chief Artificer En-
gineers and Artificer Engineers when unemployed, except
for the reasons stated below, are borne for Full Pay on the
books of their Dep6t.
The Admiralty have power, in cases of misconduct or pro-
longed sickness, to place Officers on temporary Half Pay,
such pay not to exceed the half of the Full Pay to which
they are entitled.
Officers on the Permanent List of the Royal Naval Air Service
who were entered from civil life, and Officers of the Koyal
Navy who are graded in the Royal Naval Air Service, to be
eligible for half-pay at the rates applicable to the relative
Naval Rank of their substantive Air service Grade, except in
cases where a Naval Officer holds higher Rank in the Royal
Navy than that which he holds in the Royal Naval Air
Service, in which cases the half-pay of the Naval Rank to be
payable. To take effect irom the 14th December, 1915.
All Junior Service in the Royal Naval Air Service to count,
where applicable, towards the half-pay of higher Ranks in that
Service, provided that only Jnnior Service covered by con-
firmation is allowed to count. (Order in Council, 3rd October,

(Orders in Council, 28 March, 1903, and 14 May, 1914).
