EXTRACT FROM THE ROYAL NAVAL
RESERVE REGULATIONS (OFFICERS),
1911.
FROM CHAP. IV.-UNIFORM.
24. The Uniform to be worn by Officers of the
Royal Naval Reserve is to be of the same pattern
as for Officers of corresponding rank of the Royal
Navy, with the following distinctive exceptions:—
*1. Instead of each distinctive stripe of half-inch
gold lace round the sleeves of the coats there
Is to be a stripe formed of two waved lines of
quarter-inch gold lace, one line superimposed
upon the other so as to form a band Ave
eighths of an inch wide, the blue cloth to show
between the curves.
The hHlf stripe is to consist of a straight
line of one eighth-inch (told lace.
The edges of the eolourod cloth denoting
branches oth°r than the Military Branch
should be straight.
-'. Lieutenant-Commanders, Engineer Lieu-
tenant-Commanders, Staff Paymasters and
Paymasters are entitled to wear a single
straight line of quarter-inch gold braid
between the stripes.
3. Assistant Paymasters under four years'
seniority will wear one stripe; those of over
four years' seniority will wear two stripes
(and corresponding uniform).
4 Warrant Engineers are to wear Uniform cor-
responding to that worn by Artificer Engin-
eers and Warrant Mechanicians R.N., with
the exceptions mentioned below.
On attaining 10 years' seniority in the rank of
Warrant Engineer such Officers are to wear a
stripe formed by two waved lines of one-eiehth
inch gold braid, intersecting each othe r , so
as to torn bands one-qnarter of an inch wide,
the blue cloth to show between the curves.
5. The buttons are to be of Royal Navy Pattern,
with the letters " R.N R." in Old English
characters across the anchor.
6. Instead of the anchor on the epaulettes there
is to be a badge consisting of an anchor in
the centre, surrounded with the words
" Royal Naval Reserve " embroidered in
gold; the anchor to be of silver for the
Military' Branch and of gold for the other
Branches.
7. The device on the cockade of the cocked hat
to be of gold cord, the loop in centre being
twisted in the case of Officers of the Military
Branch and straight for Officers of other
Branches.
6. Badge for the Cap. — A silver anchor for
Officers of the Military Branch and a gold
anchor for Officers of the other branches,
with the letters "R.N.R." above it in gold,
on a medallion of black velvet, encircled by
an edging of gold lace, surrounded by a
laurel wreath of gold embroidery except at
the top, where a crown, embroidered in gold
and Bilver with a crimson velvet centre, is
placed over the medallion.
!). The swords are to be of the same pattern as
Naval Officers', but the letters "R.N.R." (in
block type) are to be embossed over the foul
anchor, which is on the guard. The plate
for the sword belt to be the same as ior
Officers of the Royal Navy, but with the
letters " R.N.R." across the anchor.
Note.— R.N.R. Officers who have already provided
themsel-es with nvnrds not in conformity with the
above described patterv, are not required to change
them.
10. For Midshipmen, instead of the white turn-
back, the distinguishing mark at each end of
the collar is to be a button-hole of blue twist
with R.N.R buttons.
11, Midshipmen will not be required to wear a
sword or dirk when appointed for short
periods or when under training, but may
wear a sword if they wish to do so.

ROYAL NAVAL RESERVE.
FROM SECTION VI. -UNIFORM.
25. Each Skipper on confirmation will be require*!
to provide himself with the following uniform.
Except where otherwise stated, these articles are
to be of the patterns prescribed for Warrant Offlr
cers of the Royal Navy of less than 10 years'
seniority :—
1 undress coat with R.N.R. buttons.
1 waistcoat.
1 pair of plain blue trousers.
1 cap with R.N.R. badge.
1 foul weather hat.
1 pair of black boots.
1 long oilskin coat, black, double breasted
(material optional,)
1 necktie.
White shirts and collars.

TEER RESERVE REGULATIONS.
FROM CHAP. VI.— UNIFORM.
Officers.
60. The Uniform to be worn by Officers of the
Rcyal Naval Volunteer Reserve is to be of the same
pattern as for Officers of corresponding ranks in the
Royal Navy, with the following di-tinctive excep-
tions : —
*1. Instead of each distinctive stripe of half-inch
gold lace round the sleeves of the coats there
is to he a waved line of th tee-eighths-inch
gold lace.
The half stripe is to consist of a straight
line of one-eighth-inch gold lace.
The edges of the coloured cloth denoting
branches other than toe Military Branch
should be waved. When there Is more than
one stripe of distinction lace the coloured
cloth should fill the space between the
stripes.
2. The buttons are to be of the Royal Naval
pattern, with the letters R. N.V. in Old
English characters across the anchor.
3. Instead of the anchor on the epaulettes there
is to be a badge, consisting of an anchor in
the centre, <-urrounded with the words
" Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve " em-
broidered in gold. The anchor is to be silver
for the Military Branch, and gold for the
other Branches.
4. The device on the cockade of the cocked hat
is to be of gotd braid, the loop in the centre
being twisted for Officers of the Military
Branch, and straight for Officers of other
Branches.

of the Military Branch, and a gold anchorfor
Officers of other branches, with the lettere
" R.N.V." above it in god on a medallion of
black velvet, encircled by an eduing of gold
lace, surrounded by a laurel wreath of gold
embroidery except at the top, where a crown,
embroidered in gold and silver, with a
crimson velvet centre, is to be placed over
the medallion.
6. The nlate for the sword-belt to be the same as
for Officers of the Royal Navy, but with the
letters "R.N.V." across the an. hor in the
centre.
1. For Midshipmen the distinguishing mark at

* NOK —The gold lace may, if desired.be mourn ted on a strip of blue uniform cloth before being attached
to the coat. In this case the edges of the cloth strip should be cut so as to follow the lines of the gold lace
at adistance not exceeding one-eighth of an inch.
The waved lines round the sleeve should consist of continuous curves and not of straight Unas with
rounded angles, hut lace already treated in the latter style need not be replaced.
The gold braid previously worn may continue to be used until it requires replacing.
