PRIZES, TESTIMONIALS, Ac.— continued.
THE COMMANDEK EGERTON PRIZE
This prize was founded in 1901 in memory of the
late Commander Frederick Greville Egerton, R.N.,
who was mortally wounded on the- 2nd November
isno, in the defence of Ladysmith, whilst acting in
the execution of his duty.
The dividends arising from a sum of £.100 given by
I In Eelai Ives and invested in Government securities
w ili be employed in providing the prize, to be called
"The Commander Egerton Prize," which will be
awarded annually, at the discretion of the Admiralty
lo the Officer who, when qualifying for Gunnery
Lieutenant, passes the best examination in practical
Gunnery.
KONALD MEGAW MEMORIAL PRIZE.
This Prize was Founded iii 1906 in memory of Mid-
shipman Ronald Megaw, who was killed accidentally
mi 1 lie 111 li November, l:« •!. while at General Quarter's
on Board H.M.S. " Montagu."
The interest on a sum oi £1,000, given In the Father,
and held upon trust by the Admiraltyjis employed
in providing a prize, consisting of a Presentation
Sword and its accoutrements, and selected bonks or
instruments, to he awarded annually to the Sub-
Lieutenant who obtains the highest place during the
preceding year in the various examinations pre-
scribed for Officers qualifying for the rank of
Lieutenant.
THE GRAHAM NAVAL HISTORY PRIZE.
Tins Px'ize was founded in 1909 by Lady Graham in
memory of her husband, Admiral Sir William
Graham, G.O.B.. formerly Captain of H.M.S.
" Britannia," Training Ship for Naval Cadets.
The interest on a sum of £2f>2 Government Stock,
held upon Trust by the Admiralty, is employed in
providing a Prize for the Cadet of the 4th, 5th, or Gth
Term at the Royal Naval College, Dartmouth, who
obtains the highest place in a voluntary examination
on a special book or period of Naval History.
The Prize consists of books, instruments, accoutre-
ments or other articles selected by the successful
competitor, subject to the discretion of the Captain
of the College.
THE OGILVY MEDAL.
This Medal was instituted in 1912 in memory of the
late Captain Frederick Charles Ashley Ogilvy, R.N.,
who died on the ISth December, 1909, from typhoid
fever, while in command of H.M.S. " Natal."
The dividends arising from a sum of about £240
given by Officers of His Majesty's Navy and also
certain friends and relatives are employed in pro-
viding a medal, to be called "The Ogilvy Medal,"
which is awarded annually, at the discretion of the
Admiralty, to the Officer who takes the lirst place in
the examination to qualify for Torpedo Lieutenant.
Any balance that remains after payment of expenses
maybe handed over to the winner of the medal at
the discretion of the Admiralty.
KING GEORGE PRIZE SCHOLARSHIPS.
In accordance with the wishes of H.M. the King
that the greater part of the Fund subscribed for the
purpose of commemorating His Majesty's Corona-
tion by <-ubjectsof His Majesty bearing the Christian
name George " in all parts of the Empire should bq
utilised for the benefit of junior Oflfc ers of the Royal
Marines who mav lind difflca lty in meeting the cost
of the Dual stage of lheir military training, the sum
available was invested and the income arising there-
from was devoted to the institution oi Scholarships
termed the 'King George Prize Scholarships." One
Scholarship is awardea each y°ar In I he Officer in
the Royal Marines who, as a result of the annual
competitive examination, is selected by the
Admiralty for admission lo the Military Stall
College at Cambcrley.
Each Scholarship is tenable for two years and
ordinarily consists of half I he net income for the
ye-r derived from the Fund, estimated approxi-
mately at £97 10s.
