Note.— The material on which badges are embroidered

For Chief Petty Officers.— To the shape of the collar.
For others— As supplied through the Victualling
I ards ; to be hemmed on with Mack thread on blue, white
thread on white.
WEARING OF MEDALS.
Medals are to be worn at Inspections, on Sundays, and
on all occasions of ceremony when jumpers with cuffs
are worn.
Medal ribbons may be worn on other occasions.
The ribbons of medals axe to be 1 inch in length,
unless the number of clasps requires them ro be longer,
in which case the ribbon is only just to show above the
top clasp. VVneu there is more than one medal, the
< listance between the ribbons t.o be J inch The ribbons
when worn alone are to be only J inch in length and
sewn on a cloth attachment close together.
The ribbons of the medals are to be sewn on a found-
ation of blue cloth, with a canvas stiffening at the back.
The foundation is to extend .1 inch on top and sides as a
margin, the bottom to be cut off close to the ribbons
One inch of ribbon is to be sewn on the cloth attach-
ment to allow the medal and clasps with another inch
more of ribbon to overlap the inch Bewn to cloth.
*Are made and issued in large size for wearing on arm,
and in small size for wear by Chief Petty Officers,
tArc made in large size only.
Medals or ribbons are to be worn on the loft broast,
placed iu a line 1J inches below the point of the
shoulder. The upper edge of the cloth foundation is to
lie placed 1J inches from point of shoulder ; the ribbons
will then be 2 incheB from point of shoulder.
Medals are to be worn "obverse" outwards, com-
mencing with the end furthest from the shoulder :-

AFLOAT.
The following ratings alone, are allowed by Regulation
to have a clothes chest :—
Chief Petty Officers.
Officers' Stewards or Cooke, 1st Class.
Confirmed Sergeants of Marines.
They are to be of the following dimensions —
3 ft. 2 ins. in length.
1 ft. 10 ins. in breadth.
1 ft. 10 ins. in depth.
The chests are to be fitted with one long and two short
drawers, with locks and keys.
* Tool chests for Shipwrights and others allowed tool
money, are to bo of the same dimensions as above.
When there is accommodation available, other ratings
than those mentioned above, who wear long cloth packets
and peak caps, may have a small chest with one drawer,
of the following dimensions :—
2 ft. ins. in length.
1 ft. 6 ins. in breadth.
1 ft. 2 ins. in depth.
* On exhaustion of the stock of the present pat-
tern Tool Chests, the dimensions of the Service
pattern will be as follows :—
3 ft. 2 ins. in length.
1 ft. (i ins. in breadth,
l ft. (j ins. in depth.

(6) British medals as directed in Article 167 of the
King's Regulations, l<n:i, with war medals in order
of date.

The Long Service and Good Conduct medals and the
medal for Oood Shooting come after all war medals.
Medals awarded by a society for bravery in saving
human life, if specially authorised to be worn, are to be
worn on the right breast, similarly to those on the left,
and on the same horizontal line.
Note.— The "obverse" tide is that on which the head of
the Sovereign is shown.
WARD ROOM OFFICERS' SERVANTS

Each Private R.M.L.l. embarked for duty as Ward
Room Officers' Servant will be provided, under the Con-
ditions laid down in Article 1179 King's Regulations and
Admiralty Instructions, with au annual gratuitous out-
fit consisting of : —
1 Cap with peak.
1 Plain serge suit.
3 Fine white Duck Tunics with jean collars
and cuffs.
2 Collars and Fronts combined.
1 Black necktie.
3 pairs white cotton gloves.
The serge suit and cap will be worn on occasions
wnen the ordinary P.M. Uniform is not suitable. Corps
Uniform will be worn on other occasions except when
attending at Mess, for which purpose the Fine White
I'uik Tunics are provided.
