Quarter Masters on Retired Pay. — War Services. "joih
panied Sir Frederick Roberts in the march to Candahar, and was present at the battle of Candahar (Medal with
two Clasps, and Bronze Decoration).
91 Captain W. Hopkins served in the China war of 1860-61, and was present at the capture of the Taku Forts
and at the occupation of Pekin (Medal with two Clasps). Served in the Egyptian war of 1882, and was present at
the battle of Tel-el-Kebir (Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star).
93 Captain W. Howard served with the Cameron Highlanders throughout the Egyptian war of i382, and was
present at the battle of Tel-el-Kebir (Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star); also served throughout the Nile
Expedition in 1884-85 with the Cameron Highlanders (Clasp). Served throughout the operations of the Soudan
Frontier Field Force in 1885-S6 with the Cameron Highlanders, and was present at Kosheh during its investment
and in the engagement at Giniss.
96 Captain J. Howland served in the Zulu war in 1879 and in the subsequent operations against Sekukuni
(honorary rank of Captain, Medal with Clasp). Also served in the Boer war of 1881. Served in the Soudan
campaign in 1885 'mentioned in despatches, granted the higher rate of pay, Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's
Star).
98 Captain J. Ireland served in the Zulu war in 1879, and was present in the engagement at Gingindhlovu and
at the relief ofEkowe (Medal with Clasp). Served in the Boer war of 1881, and was present in the engagement
at Lang's Nek and the Ingogo River.
99 Captain T. Jarvis served with the 55th Regiment in the China war of 1841-42, and was present at tho
taking of Amoy, Chusan, and subsequent operations up the Ningpo river, and storming of Chin Kiang Fo (Medal).
Has also the Good Conduct Medal.
100 Major A. Jones served in the Indian Mutiny campaign in 1857-58 (Medal). Served in the New Zealand cam-
paigns in the provinces of Waikato and Taranaki in 1864-65 (Medal). Served in the Afghan war in 1878-79 (Medal).
101 Major John Jones served in the Prussian war in 1854, and was present at the capture of Boraarsund (Medal).
102 Captain J. A. Keble served with the 31st Regiment throughout the campaign in the north of China in i860,
including the action of Sinho and storming of Tangku (Medal with Clasp for the Taku Forts). Present at
the occupation of Tien-Tsin 1860-62. Served during the operations against the Taepings in the vicinity of
Shanghai in 1862, resulting in the taking of the stockade of Nanhsiaug, capture by escalade of the walled cities
of Kadin, Tsiupoo, and Tsolin, the fortified town of Najow, the affair at Nanhsiang, aad relief of Kadin and
Tsinpoo.
103 Major J. Kelly served in the Eastern campaign in 1855-56, and was present at the battle of Tchernaya and
the siege of Sebastopol (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Served in the Abyssinian war in 1868, and was
present at the capture of Magdala (Medal).
105 Captain P. Kelly served throughout the Ashanti war of 1873-74 (Medal with Clasp, and Medal for distinguished
conduct in the Field).
107 Major P. Lacey served with the 94th Regiment in the Zulu war of 1879, and in the subsequent operations
against Sekukuni (Medal with Clasp).
108 Captain James Lamb served with the 1st Battalion Rifle Brigade throughout the Eastern campaign of 1854-55,
including the battles of Alma, Balaklava, andlnkerman, siege and fall of Sebastopol, and attack of the Redan on
the 18th June (Medal with four Clasps, and Turkish Medal). Served in the Afghan war in 1878-79 with the Pesha-
wrr Valley Field Force, and was present at the attack and capture of Ali Musjid (Medal with Clasp).
109 Quarter Master Lambert served throughout the Eastern campaign of 1854-55, including the battles of Alma and
Inkerman, siege and fall of Sebastopol, bombardment and surrender of Kinbourn (Medal with three Clasps, and
Turkish Medal). Served with the expedition in North China in i860 (.VIedal with Clasps).
110 Captain Land served in the Eastern campaign of 1854-56, and was present at the siege and fall of Sebastopol
and at the battle of Inkerman (Medal with two Clasps, and Turkish Medal). Has the Medal tor Long Service
and Good Conduct.
112 Captain Lapham served in the Boer war of 1881 with the Natal Field Force.
113 Captain Lee served the Eastern campaign of 1854-55 in the 20th Regiment, including the battles of Alma, Bala-
klava, and Inkerman, siege and fall of Sebastopol, sortie of 26th Oct., attacks of the Redan ou 18th Juue and 8th
September, and capture of Kinbourn (Medal with four Clasps, and Turkish Medal) .
1 -* Major Henry Lewis served with the 7th Dragoon Guards throughout the Kaffir war of 1846-47, and was
present in many of the engagements that took place (Medal). Served in the Egyptian war of 1882 with the 7th
Dragoon Guards, and was present in the engagement at Mahsama and at the battle of Tel-el-Kebir and the
capture of Cairo (honorary rank of Major, Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star).
116 Captain J. M'Caffery served in the Zulu war in 1879 (Medal). Served in the Soudan campaign in 1885 (Medal
with Clasp, and Khedive's Star).
118 Quarter Master M'Garty served in the New Zealand war in 1864-66 (Medal).
i i 119 Major H. M'Leod served with the 93rd Highlanders throughout the Dastern campaign of 1854-55, including
the batties of Alma and Balaklava, expedition to Kertch and Yenikale, siege and fall of Sebastopol, and assaults

Mutiny campaign of 1857-59, including the relief of Lncknow by Lord Clyde, defeat of the Gwalior Contingent at
Cawnpore, and pursuit to Seraighat, affair of Kali Nuddee, siege and capture of Lucknow, affair of Ally gunge,
battle at Bareilly, actions of Pasgaun and Russulpore and evacuation of Mithowlie (Medal with two Clasps),
TJmbeyla campaign N.W. Frontier of India in 1863-64 (Medal with Clasp).
120 Major N. M'Leod served in the Eastern campaign in 1854-55, and was present at the battles of Alma, Balaklava
and Inkerman, and at the siege and fall of Sebastopol (Medal with four Clasps, and Turkish Medal) . Served in the
war in China in i860, and was present at the capture of Tanghu, the Taku Forts, Chinkiawan, and Pekin (Medal
with two Clasps ) .
m Captain W. Mackie served in the Kaffir war of 1851-53 (Medal) . Also in the China war of i860, and was en-
gaged in the actions of the 12th and 14th August, 18th and 21st Sept., and advance on Pekin (Medal with two Clasps).
122 Captain W. Mackinnon served in the Egyptian war of 1882 (Medal, and Khedive's Star).
123 Major G. Maggs was wounded at the attack and capture of Lagos, 26 Dec. 1851. Has the Medal for
Meritorious Service and the Good Conduct Medal.

125 Captain A. Martin served in the Indian Mutiny campaign in 1857-58, and was present at the actions of Pan-
doora and Doondeakeira (Medal).
1 26 Major J. Mellor served with the 33rd Regiment in the Abyssinian campaign of 1867-68 (Medal).
127 Captain J. Merrill served with the Central India Field Force in 1858, under Sir Hugh Rose, and was present
at the action of Koonch, battle of Gallowlie, advance on and capture of Calpee, capture of Morar Cantonments
recapture of the town and fortress of Gwalior. Was present with a flyin"- column in Bundlecund from August
1858 to March 1859 (Medal with Clasp).
128 Csrptain J. Miller served in the New Zealand war in 1864-66 (Medal).
129 Captain Mills served with the 14th Regiment in the Crimean campaign from the 10th Jan. 1855, including the
siege and fall of Sebastopol, and assault of the 18th June (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Served also
•with the 2nd Battalion 14th Regiment in the New Zealand war of 1863-66 in the Waikato and Wanganui campaigns.;
and was present at the actions of Kokeroa and Rangiriri (Medal) .
1 30 Major J. Moore served in the Crimean campaign in 1855, and was present at the assault of the Redan on the
18th June ( Medal with Clasp for Sebastopol, and Turkish Medal).
131 Captain C. Morrison served with the 88th Regiment throughout the Kafir war of 1877-78, and the Zulu war
of 1879 (Medal with Clasp) .
i 32 Captain G. Morrison served in the Abyssinian war in 1867-68 (Medal).
133 Quarter Master G. Murphy served in the Eastern campaign in 1855, and was present at the siege and fall of
Sebastopol (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).
131 Captain T. M. Murray served with the 51st Lightlnfantry in the Jowaki campaign in 1 877 (Medal with Clasp) .
Served in the Afghan war in 1878-79, and was present at the attack and capture of Ali Mnsiid (Medal with clasp).
Served with the Burmese Expedition in 1886 till the close of 1887, and for some time officiated as Staff Officer to
the 5th Brigade Upper Burmah Field Force (two Clasps).
135 Captain Nally served with the 84th Regiment in the Indian campaign of 1857-5S, joined Havelock's Force at Alia-
