559 Colonel H. M. Thompson served in the Eastern campaign in 1S55-56, and was present at the siege and fall of
Sebastopol, including the assault on the Quarries on the 8th June, the capture of the Cemetery and Rifle Pits of the
18th June, and with the Reserve at the attack on the Redan of the 8th September (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish
Medal). Also served in the operations against the Taeping rebels in China in 1863.
560 Colonel Ross Thompson served in the Afghan war in 1879-80, and took part -with the Hissarik and Lughman
Expeditions (mentioned in despatches, Brevet of Lt. Colonel, Medal).
562 Colonel M. Tilford served with the 2nd Battalion 60th Rifles throughout the Kaffir war of 1851-53 (Medal).
In the suppression of the Indian mutiny in 1858 in the Shahabad district (Medal). Also served throughout the
campaign of i860 in China, and was present in the action of Sinho, the taking of Tangku, the capture of the Taku
Forts, and the surrender of Pekin (Medal with two Clasps).
504 Colonel C. E. Torriano served in the Eastern campaign in i854~t;5, and was present at the battle of Inkerman
and at the siege of Sebastopol (mentioned in despatches, Medal with two Claspjs, Knight of the Legion of Honor,
and Turkish Medal). Served in the Indian Mutiny campaign in 1858, including the engagements at Pandora and
Meangunge and the siege and capture of Lucknow (Medal with Clasp).
565 Colonel F. T. Townshend served with the 2nd Life Guards in the Egyptian war of 18S2, and was present in the
engagements at El Magfar and Mahsama, in the action at Kassasin on the 28th August — wounded (Brevet of
Lt.Colonel, Medal, 4th Class of the Osmanieh. and Khedive's Star).
566 Colonel E. J. Tremlett served in the Zulu war in 1879, ar "i was present in the engagements at Kambula
(mentioned in despatches), Zlobane Mountain, and Ulundi (mentioned in despatches, Brevet of Lt.Colonel, Medal
with Clasp).
567 Colonel the Hon. W. Le Poer Trench served with the expeditionary force in China in 1857-58; was present
at the operations prior to, and commanded a ladder party at the capture of Canton; also commanded a ladder
party at the assault and capture of Namtow (mentioned in despatches, Medal with Clasp).
569 Colonel Trent-Stoughton served with the 63t,h Light Infantry throughout the New Zealand war in 1864-66, was
present at the assault on the Gate Pah (mentioned in despatches), and acted as a regimental Major in the action of
To Ranga, and severel}' wounded in right wrist while leading two Couipaniesof the 68th into the left of the enemy's
rifle-pits (mentioned in despatches, Brevet of Major, and Medal).
570 Colonel G. H. Trotmau served with the 2nd Battalion 60th Rifles in the Afghan war from October 1878 to
July 1880, took part in the advance on and occupation of Candahar and Khelat-i-Ghilzie, and was present in the
engagements at Ahmed Kheyl and TJrzoo near Ghuznee (Medal with Clasp).
572 Colonel Thomas Trueman served with the Central India Field Force in 1857-58, and was present at the
siege and capture of Ratghur, action at Barodea, capture of Garracota, action of Borda, battle at the Pass of
Mudispore, siege and storming of Jhansi, battle of the Betwa storm and capture of Lohari, actions of Koonch
and Muttra, battle of Galowlee (mentioned in despatches for "steadiness and gallantry"), captures of Calpee
and Gwalior, and several slight affairs in Bundlecund (Medal with Clasp).
573 Colonel A H. Tucker served in the Eastern campaign in 1854-55, an <> was present at the battles of the Alma,
Balaklava, and Inkerman, and at the siege and fall of Sebastopol (mentioned in despatches, Medal with four Clasps,
Knight of the Legion of Honor, and Turkish Medal). Served in the New Zealand war in 1864-66 (Medal).
574 Colonel A. Tufnell served with the 3rd Battalion 60th Rifles in the Zulu war of 1879, and was present at the
action of Gingindhlovu and relief of Ekowe. Afterwards commanded the Battalion to the end of the campaign
(Brevet of Lt.Colonel, Medal with Clasp).
575 Colonel J. P. Turbervill commanded a detachment during the disturbances in Pariah Kimedy in 1856,
was actively employed against the insurgents in the Sumbulpore district in 1858, and received the thanks of the
Bengal Government for his services.
576 Colonel H. F. Turner served in the Soudan campaign in 1885 as Director of Telegraphs, and was pre-
sent in the engagement at the Tofrek zereba (mentioned in despatches, Medal with two Clasps, and Khedive's
Star).

58(1 Colonel G. Tyndall served with the Madras Rifles 1857-58 in quelling the mutiny in India, and was present
at the capture of Lucknow, and with the force under Major General Whitlock in 1859 (Medal with Clasp).
531 Colonel H. B. Urmston served with the expeditionary force under Colonel Mackeson against the Hussanzaies
in 1852-53. Also with that against the Mohmund tribe under Sir Sydney Cotton in 1854, as Assistant Commissioner,
and was present in the attack on Shah Mooseh Khel (Medal with Clasp).
5S2 Colonel the Hon. J. C. Vanneck served with the 1st Battalion Scots Guards in the Egyptian war of 1882, and
was present at the battle of Tel-el-Kebir (Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star). Served'm the expedition to the
Soudan in 1885 with the 2nd Battalion of the Scots Guards, and was present in the engagements at Hasheen and
Temai (Clasp).
583 Colonel G. F. Vesey served as a Midshipman in the Baltic Fleet in 1S54 (Medal). Attacked and destroyed
a party of Mopla fanatics with a detachment of 43rd Light Infantry at Colatore, Malabar, on the 8th September,
1873, and was thanked by the Madras Government.
58i Colonel W. Waddington served with Persian Expeditionary Force in 1856-57, and was present at the landing
at Hallilah Bay, storming and capture of Reshire, surrenderof Bushire, and during the forced march on Borazjoon ,
the occupation of the enemy's entrenched camp, and the night attack and battle ot Khooshab (Medal with Clasp).
586 Colonel A. J. Wake served the Rohilcund campaign in 1858, and taking of Fort Mittowlie (mentioned in
despatches, Medal).
588 Colonel D. C. Walker served with the Raipootana Field Force in 1857-59, and was present at the capture of
Fort A.wah and the siege of Kotah (Medal with Clasp).
589 Colonel T. N. Walker served in the Indian Mutiny campaign of 1857-58 with the 2nd Bengal European
Fusiliers, including all the siege operations before Delhi in 1857 (wounded on the 18th July), and was selected as
one of the Subalterns of the ladder party at the final assault and capture of the city (wounded on the 15th Septem-
ber) ; was afterwards present at the capture of the heights of Sonah, and surrender of the forts of Rewarrie,
Jujjhur, Ranonde, Furrucknugur, and Bullumbghur; served with the 17th Punjaub Infantry in the Rohilcund
campaign in 1858, including the actions of Amsoth, Bagawalla, and Nugeega, and relief of Moradabad (Medal
with Clasp) . Served with the expedition against the Naga Hill tribes in 1879-80, and was present at the assault of

590 Colonel C. T. Wallace served with the 2nd Battalion Highland Light Infantry in the Egyptian war of 1882,
and was present at the battle of Tel-el-Kebir (Medal with Clasp, 4th Class of the Osmanieh, and Khedive's Star).
591 Colonel W. A. J. Wallace served in the Afghan war of 1878-80 as a Field Engineer with the Koorum Column,
and superintended the movement by rail of Sir Donald Stewart's Division in November 1878 over 300 miles of the
newly opened Indus Valley railway between Mooltan and Sukkur (received the thanks of the Commander in
Chief in India, Medal). Served in the Egyptian war of 1882 in charge of the railway operations, and was present
at the battle of Tel-el-Kebir (mentioned in despatches, Brevet of Lt.Colonel, Medal with Clasp, 4th Class of the
Osmanieh, and Khedive's Star).
•** Colonel F. D. Walters served with the 44th Regt. in the Crimea from the 27th Jan. 1855. including the siege
and fall of Sebastopol, and attack and occupation of the Cemetery on the 18th June (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish
Medal). Served also the campaign of i860 in the north of China, including the action of Sinho, assault and
capture of the Taku Forts (Medal with Clasp).
593 Colonel J. H. Walwyn served with the 23rd Fusiliei-s in the Indian campaign of 1857-58, including the siege and
capture of Lucknow and operations across the Goomtee (Medal with Clasp).
