Transcript of Duncan Street removal notice front page

Messrs John Bartholomew & Co have pleasure in intimating that they have now removed from Park Road to their new Geographical Institute in Duncan Street, as shown above [an illustration of Duncan Street] and on accompanying plan [a map of Edinburgh with the Duncan Street location highlighted — see next image].

The new Institute has been specially planned for the development of their particular class of work, equipped with the finest machinery and the latest appliances calculated to aid in perfecting the various processes of drawing, engraving, lithographing and printing of atlases, maps, plans and every kid of cartographical work.

There is a large staff of skilled geographical draughtsmen, engravers and artists, and all work is carried out under the personal supervision of Dr J G Bartholomew, FRSE, FRGS, Cartographer to the King.

Their arrangements for the production of geographical work of the highest class are accordingly so complete that they can confidently undertake the execution of contracts for governments, railway and other companies, societies and publishers with assurance of being able to give satisfaction.

They would inform publishers that maps for guides or books of travel, etc., can be supplied from a very extensive series of engraved plates of all countries, thereby saving the cost of engraving or special preparation. Publishers need only send particulars of requirements and proofs of plates will be submitted.
