Crois, crois iarna, a hank-reel, a reel for wind¬
ing yarn into hanks, skeins or cuts. The
instrument often used for this purpose is a
sort of double cross, a shaft with cross bars
at each extremity in transverse planes. The
yarn is wound on to the cross in a set way
with the hand.
